DELUXE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 99351. Beautiful special order rifle with 26″ oct to rnd bbl, half magazine with Lyman silver bead front sight & 3-leaf platinum line express rear sight. It is mounted with 3-4X center crotch cut flame grain walnut with “H” style checkered forearm & black insert pistol grip stock with a replacement hard rubber buttplate. Stock & forend cap have sling eyes. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum yellow sheet that fully identifies this rifle with the express Lyman rear sight, sling & swivels, and indicates shipment 4-1-1895 to order #9267. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Retains most of its orig factory finish to both metal & wood that has a coating of old dried oil or wax over the entire surface. This cataloguer cleaned the left side of the receiver & a spot on the bbl and it appears that virtually all of the orig finish is present including about 75% of the orig shellac on the receiver. Belly of the receiver & outside edge of the lever are somewhat faded, otherwise the colors are bright & strong. Forearm has a scratch on the bottom and the buttplate is a replacement and there is a repaired chip on the grip, otherwise the wood is sound. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore.
