FAYETTEVILLE RIFLE. 33” bbl, overall 48-3/4”. Lockplate marked forward of hammer “FAYETTEVILLE”, eagle is non-discernible. “C” and “A” of CSA are still visible. 1863 stamped behind hammer. Bbl markings “V” over “P”, no bbl date or eagle head discernible. Brass buttplate correctly stamped “CSA”. No stock markings discernible. Brass nose cap. Brass bands, possible replacements. Brass trigger guard. Reference: “CONFEDERATE RIFLES & MUSKETS” by Dr. John Murphy. CONDITION: Gun is missing rear sight and both sling swivels. Correct style ramrod with tulip end. Bbl tang poorly fits mortise, which appears to be too large for tang. Trigger guard is fit into filled mortise. Lock poorly fits in large mortise with gaps around edges. 4-48829 JS12 (4,000-4,500)
