HENRI LOUIS LAVASSEUR (French, 1853-1934) THE TIRED SEAMSTRESS. Large bronze sculpture shows a young woman wearing a fancy dress and seated in a tall Gothic chair with a spinning wheel beside. She has fallen asleep. Wonderful two-tone patina with a goldish coloring for her and a darker patina for the chair. Mounted on a square marble plinth. The side marked “H Lavasseur”, the back of the chair marked “Fabrication Franciase”, also “1.958”. SIZE: Bronze: 28-1/4″ h. Overall: 30″. CONDITION: Very good, one wheel spoke screw missing. 9-97187 (3,500-4,500)
