REMINGTON HEPBURN NO. 3 HIGH POWER RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. SN 7499. Special target rifle with 32” heavy oct to rnd bbl, with special globe front sight, wide empty dovetail on top flat and a mid-range, thick base, vernier tang sight with 3-1/4” staff. Mounted with nicely figured, checkered, American walnut with metal tipped 11-1/2” forearm & rnd knob, pistol grip stock with straight comb & small cheekpiece and a nickeled brass, Schutzen style buttplate with short prongs. It has Schutzen style, dbl set triggers with a palm rest at rear of forearm. There is an extra hole in forearm from another palm rest location. CONDITION: Fair to good. Bbl retains traces of orig finish in sheltered areas with balance turned plum & covered with moderate to heavy pitting. Receiver retains strong case colors on sides with moderate to heavy pitting over top & on lever. Trigger guard has some crusty rust. Wood is sound with a dark oil stained patina. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with some orange peel roughness in front of chamber. 8-76194 JR401 (2,500-3,500)
