REMINGTON NO. 1 SPORTING & TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 44 2-7/16” (44-90 Remington). SN 5983. Pretty rifle with 26-1/8” medium weight, oct to rnd bbl with windgage globe front sight and added dovetail on top flat and a thick base, long range, vernier tang sight with 5-3/8” staff. Mounted with nicely figured, straight grain, American walnut with metal tipped smooth forearm, 11-1/2” long, and a checkered, serpentine grip buttstock with horn insert & smooth steel, shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 60-70% glossy orig blue, mostly on sides & bottom. Top is mixed with light to moderate rust. Receiver retains most of its strong orig case colors, moderately faded over top & trigger guard, strong & bright in sheltered areas. Breechblock & hammer retain most of their glossy blue. Wood is sound with a bruise, a few scrapes & some light scratch marks on forearm and one bruise on buttstock with light handling & use marks, and retains most of its orig factory finish.
