CAST IRON ARCHITECTURAL PLAQUE OF GEORGE WASHINGTON. Third quarter 19th century. This cast iron oval portrait plaque cast from the original by A.H. Jones. NY, and now additionally marked at the base “Patented 1858”. Depicting a half portrait bust of George Washington within a molded surround crested with a bow-tied ribboned garland. The bottom with bow-tied oak sprays of leaves and acorns. SIZE: 38 1/2″ x 29 1/2″ CONDITION: Very good overall structural condition, the back painted in blue and terracotta tones, the front painted in gold. The lower bowtie with loss to end of one ribbon. 9-97556 (5,000-7,000)
