FINE REMINGTON KEENE BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. NSN. Standard rifle with 24” rnd bbl, full magazine, a tiny, dovetailed front sight on front band & a 1,000 yard, reverse mounted, ladder rear sight. Mounted in a nicely figured, uncheckered, 1-pc American walnut stock with raised side panels, straight grip & semi-crescent buttplate. It has standard markings on top of bolt with cutoff on left side of the action. This was Remington’s first successful bolt action repeating rifle and saw great service on frontier. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains most of its orig factory finish, slightly thinned & turning plum in front of rear band. Magazine tube retains about 75-80% bright orig factory blue, flaked in an area on left side & bottom near front band. Receiver & trigger guard retain about 95-96% strong, orig, factory blue with sharp edge wear & an area of patina on top rear with trigger guard & floorplate dull blue. Buttplate has traces of case colors, being mostly a smooth plum/brown patina. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. An outstanding example. 4-60718 JR391 (3,000-4,000)
