HISTORIC CUSTER BATTLEFIELD ASSOCIATED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. Cal. 31. SN 199673. Usual configuration with 6″ oct bbl, 1-line New York U.S. America address. It has brass grip frame & 1-pc walnut grip. It has 6-shot cylinder, three of which are still loaded. It is accompanied by two notarized statements transferring this revolver & a Remington New Model Army, SN 29449 (also being sold in this auction), amongst various owners with the earliest date of 1951. All agree that it was part of the W.D. Fischer Collection and was displayed for many years in the Adams Memorial Hall in Deadwood, SD as part of the Fischer Collection. Earliest known information is dated back to 1901 where a James Rennie of Sheridan, WY obtained them from Dusty Amsdon of Dayton, WY. Amsdon was apparently an old Government scout who visited the battlefield shortly after the fight and “found several pistols and some rifles”. CONDITION: Good to very good. All matching except the wedge, which is unnumbered. Overall retains a dark attic brown patina with some crusty rust on the sides of the bbl & spots on the frame. Grip frame retains traces of silver-plating with dented trigger guard. Grip is sound with slightly chipped toes & shows heavy wear. One replaced frame screw. Handspring is either broken or missing. Cylinder is frozen on its pin and cannot be removed. Strong dark bore. 4-57422 (35,000-40,000)
