MILLS “THE JUDGE” UPRIGHT SLOT MACHINE. A more plebeian upright, “The Judge” depicts a man of justice adorning lithographed color wheel along with a large cast iron oval plaque on the lower front panel of the oak cabinet. Simple yet sturdy by nature, these uprights were workhorses and heavily utilized in the early 20th Century. Odds ranging from a 2 to 1 payout to a 20 to 1 payout, enabled a player (or five players) to bet on certain colors. A minimal amount of iron trim was utilized on these machines, thus enabling Mills to sell this version at a lower price than the more famous Dewey upright. SIZE: 4′ 6″ t. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. Some wear/corrosion to lithographed color wheel, lacking one lock prong on head front casting, paneled side entry door is a later replacement. 1-8209 JL (10,000-12,000)
