RARE MILLS CHICAGO SLOT MACHINE WITH MUSIC. Very similar in nature to the Mills Dewey, the Mills Chicago has a front stop wheel mechanism. This, in essence, gave the gambler the assurance that no “bugs” were placed upon the wheel, thus assuring the player the chances of a high payout. In reality, this is not true. “Bugs” were still utilized, eliminating higher payouts. In fact, sometimes several were placed on higher payout notches (especially white and blue). Desirable as this machine is already, it is further enhanced by the music box with three bells. Perhaps this addition is not factory original, but it certainly enhances the appeal of this upright machine. On each play, not only was the gambler able to try and win big, but he could also enjoy the music. Encased within a quartersawn oak cabinet with nickel plated cast iron trims, the player could play from one to six coins and if all six were played, he was always a winner. Odds range from 2 to 1, all the way up to 40 to 1. SIZE: 5′ 7″ t. CONDITION: Overall very fine restored condition, replacement oak rear door, possible new musical casting on lower front of cabinet. 1-8220 JL (22,500-27,500) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
