WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 FLAT SIDE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30 US (30-40). SN 506. Early standard grade rifle with 28″ tapered rnd bbl, pedestal mounted German silver Rocky Mountain front sight blade and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Receiver has an extra hole with plug screw in the upper left rear corner. Wood is straight grained American walnut with black insert semi-schnable tipped forearm & uncheckered straight stock with crescent buttplate. Entire rifle has a coating of old dried oil or wax. CONDITION: Fine plus. Bbl retains 96-98% strong bright orig blue & the receiver about 90% with several small light scratches. Left front edge of the receiver has a sharp ding. Stock has a grain check on the right side, otherwise the wood is sound with numerous light nicks, scratches & dings and a gouge in the left wrist. Forearm is dark & oil stained and the buttstock has oil stains around the wrist, comb & buttplate and retains about 30% orig varnish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore.
