PAIR OF ORIENTAL CARVED MARBLE GARDEN STATUES OF FOO DOGS. Probably late 19th century. Of typical form, one seated with ball under right front paw, the other seated with winged object under left paw, each on a plinth base decorated with scrolled lotus and egg-and-dart detailing. SIZE: Each 23″ h. x 10″ w. x 14″ d. CONDITION: Showing wear, oxidation, and green discoloration from long periods in the elements. Small hairline cracks throughout, corner piece of one plinth missing, section of one dog’s mane detached but present. 9-92580 (1,250-1,750)
