CONFEDERATE CAVALRY SABER. “J. W. McElroy, GA” stamped in pommel cap. The very rare McElroy markings in the pommel cap appear original, though there are old tool marks or ding marks around top of pommel that obscure part of marking. Blade is classic Confederate blade with unstopped fuller. Grip and wire wrap are possible replacements. Accompanying Confederate scabbard shows lead soldered seam, brass ring mounts, iron drag, missing soldered iron throat. Typical Georgia made scabbard. SIZE: Blade is 34 1/2” l.
