RARE CONFEDERATE FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD. Made by J. W. McElroy, Macon, GA. Sword blade is etched on both sides approx. 14” panels one side shows large “CS” and two 1st National crossed flags. Opposite sides shows crossed cannons and full firm marking W.J. McELROY & CO. MACON . GEO.” Reference: “A PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLEMENT OF CONFEDERATE SWORDS WITH ADDENDUM” by William A. Albaugh III. SIZE: Blade 29 1/2”. Overall 35-1/2”. CONDITION: Scabbard is middle sewn on back, top mount appears original. Middle mount and drag, possibly replacements. Sword overall is in fine condition, grip and wire wrap are perfect. Blade shows some minor pitting, but overall is above average for pattern. 4-48866 JS2 (15,000-17,000)
