FREEPORT NUT VENDOR MACHINE. A rare and highly sought after vending machine from the turn of the century, this example has had significant restoration, most likely 40-50 years ago. The wooden sides are painted red and upon close examination one can see alligatoring to the paint. The rear board is in original paint and in the bright light one can observe the following words: “The Freeport Peanut Vending Machine Made by The Freeport Novelty Co., Freeport Ill, Pat. appld. for”. Its fanciful cast iron front repainted in green, sides also containing large fanciful cast iron appliques. Mechanism appears complete and in untouched condition including what we believe to be the original tin money box. Written in gold paint on inside of front panel are two initials “J B 11/1/04″, most likely this was the date this operator purchased or put this machine on location. SIZE: 11″ w x 11″ d x 17” t. CONDITION: As typical with peanut machines, some pitting to dispensing area and peanut bed area as well, otherwise machine appears to be complete and intact. 1-8197 JL (3,500-6,500)
