*VERY RARE REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE IN 8mm LEBEL WITH BAYONET AND SLING. NSN. 8mm Lebel Cal. 30-1/4” rnd bbl. Marked “REMINGTON ARMS–UNION METALLIC CTG. CO., / REM.WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. PATD. OCT.22, 1901.” on the upper tang and “CAL. 8 M. M.” on top of the bbl in front of the top cover. The rear sight has a straight ramp graduated to 8 and a folding leaf graduated to 24. There is a metal band around the rear of the upper hand guard. The rear bbl band holds the front. The iron blade front sight is mounted on an iron band 1” to the rear of the muzzle. The “REMINGTON ARMS–UNION METALLIC CTG. CO., REM.WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.” in the left fuller of the 16” knife blade bayonet. The leather sling has iron buckle and button. Although over 100,000 of these were made for the French government during World War I, they are rarely seen in this country.
