DUFFNER & KIMBERLY VIKING TABLE LAMP. One of the most famous lamps created by the Duffner & Kimberly Co. This lamp is referenced as the Viking lamp in D&K’s 1906 catalog. This oversized helmet shaped shade is leaded with six bronze bands setting each panel apart, at the end of each band are sculpted griffins with extended curled tongues. The intricate panels begins with green, shell shaped geometric glass. From this design, two bands of purple horizontal glass encase the intricate design that Duffner has become famous for. The dramatic colors in the Viking border consists of blues, purples, oranges, yellows, pink and deep cardinal red. The shade is finished with a scalloped border. Shade is signed “The Duffner & Kimberly Co. New York”. Shade is supported by the original Viking base depicting three griffins again with their tongues extended. Bottom of base is decorated with talons. Finish of base is the expected black matte finish that came with the shade. SIZE: Shade is approx. 24″ dia. Overall 27″ t. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with minor oxidation to interior lead work. Base is very good to excellent with replacement set screw on underside. 5-67649 (60,000-80,000)
