RARE LARGE McCORMICK REAPER PAPER SIGN. A wonderful 19th century image playing off a famous painting that hung in Washington of Western exploration “Westward The Course of Empire Takes Its Way.” In the McCormick “version” the families come over the bluff to see a fertile valley with wheat being cut by their reapers. SIZE: 37″ x 27″ excluding mat and frame. Rare and believed to unique. CONDITION: Colors bright and clean. Originally the sign had rolling wrinkles which resulted in some tearing, all of which have been repaired and the sign stabilized by being professionally linen backed.
