BAIRD UNDERHAMMER RIFLE. Cal. 38. 17-1/8” oct bbl, marked “S.S. BAIRD. / CHITTENDEN, VT.” There is a filled dovetail on the bbl in front of the extended target sight. The extended sight is unusual in that it has two adjustments for elevation, one a screw adjustment on the peep and the other a pivoting arm in the middle. It is also adjustable for windage. The front sight blade is a replacement. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with scattered light pitting. Two small cracks at the hammer pivot, otherwise the stock is good. Nipple is a replacement.
