RARE CAILLE NEW CENTURY UPRIGHT SLOT MACHINE WITH MUSIC. Always sought after, the highly elaborate Caille uprights with a multitude of cast iron trim are the most appealing to coin-op collectors. Noticeably, this machine is in much higher demand because of the music box contained within. A six-way coin head enables the gambler to play the safe odds (2 to 1) or go for the long shot (40 to 1). Regardless, upon each play, the gambler and all those nearby are entertained by the music. A 12-tune cylinder, changing with each play or playing the same tune over and over was often added to circumvent gambling laws, one was paying to hear the music with the gambling aspect as a bonus! Handsomely encased in a quartersawn oak cabinet with nickel plated cast iron coin head, legs, and other various accoutrements, the music box is visible through an enormous cast iron window on the lower panel of the machine. Machine is in functioning condition with music playing every time. SIZE: 5′ 8″ t. CONDITION: A few minor musical links appear to be replacements, otherwise machine appears to be intact and original. Machine marquee of more recent vintage. 1-8221 JL (35,000-45,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2008 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
