RARE REMINGTON MILITARY STYLE SMOKELESS POWDER ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE WITH BAYONET. NSN. 30/40 Cal. 30” rnd bbl. Standard 3-line markings on the upper tang and “30 U.S.” on top of the bbl. The rear sight has steps graduated to 14 and a leaf graduated to 23. The flat steel buttplate slopes forward with the top being 13-1/2” from the face of the trigger and the bottom being 14”. The 15-7/8” knife style bayonet is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO.ILION.N.Y.U.S.A.” in the left fuller. The hilt and metal scabbard are of the same style used for the US Model 1896 rifle, but the leather belt loop is riveted to the rear. The front sight blade is a replacement. The base is 3/4” long. CONDITION: Fine. 90% blue on the bbl, very light casehardening pattern on the receiver and light pitting on the buttplate. Wood has minor handling marks with some signs of cleaning near the receiver. Bayonet has a bright blade with minor surface rust. Scales have some shallow bruises. Scabbard retains about 75% of the blue with cleaning scratches. Mechanically fine.
