REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK EGYPTIAN CONTRACT MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 43 Egyptian. SN D85755. Standard military rifle with 35-1/8” rnd bbl, with three bands & a slotted head wiping rod. It has square base front sight & a saber bayonet mount on right side with a military ladder rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered, straight grain walnut with full length forearm & sling loop on middle band & bottom of stock. There is an almost legible cartouche on left side of butt. Serial number is found on left side of top & bottom tangs, under wood. Accompanied by a correct saber bayonet with 22-3/4” Yaghtahan blade & leather scabbard with brass throat & tip. This may be the finest Egyptian contract rifle extant. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, appears to be unfired. Bbl retains 96-97% strong, bright, orig brown. Receiver, breechblock, hammer, trigger guard & buttplate retain virtually all of their brilliant case colors. Wood is sound with a few storage & handling dings & retains about all of its orig oil finish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with one or two small spots of pitting. Bayonet is fine with light pitting on blade. Scabbard is dry & flexed with an open seam & tarnished throat, while tip retains most of its gold wash. 4-60156 JR352 (2,000-3,000)
