WONDERFUL TOOLED LEATHER HENRY RIFLE SCABBARD. Made of brown russet leather about 44″ long, form fitted to a Henry rifle with full sewn edge & a rivet at top. It is fine suede deerskin lined with a flap & buckle, with an additional side closing strap for flap. Entire perimeter of body of scabbard & flap have beautiful hand tooled foliate & floral decorations. Flap has intertwined old English initials, “CBA” or a combination thereof. Back has a riveted-on billet with nickeled ring. Few Henry scabbards have survived & only a small percentage of those have any decoration & even fewer have condition. CONDITION: Very fine. Leather is strong & supple with some flexing on body. Slightly dried on back edge with some loss of finish from horse sweat. Edge of flap at bend has a small tear. Straps & buckles are good. Color is strong & orig with some light soiling, in need of some professional cleaning & treatment. 4-57598 JR521 (3,000-5,000)
