*CARL GUSTAFS MODEL 1896 SWEDISH SNIPER RIFLE. SN 261051. Cal. 6.5 Swede. Standard Model 1896 rifle with 29-1/2″ bbl with sight hood and sharpshooter wheel-adjustable rear sight. It has usual chamber markings with “1910” date. Left side of receiver is mounted with standard Swedish sniper rail that, unfortunately, has the front stop & screw broken away but accompanys the rifle. This is a simple repair for a competent gunsmith. Mounted in a 1-pc birch stock with handguard & smooth steel buttplate. Scope is missing. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Mixed numbers with the scope mount being number “261051”. The bolt knob and upper band match scope rail with other numbers mixed. Metal retains most of its orig arsenal finish, somewhat thinned on bolt body, trigger guard & floorplate. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-31830 (300-500)
