MARKLIN LIVE STEAM OCEAN LINER. Attributed to Marklin circa 1910-1920, this finely detailed liner, although overpainted, is still a highly desirable and sought after toy. Original paint is visible under white overpainting and quite possibly overpainting could be successfully removed by a professional. Some bubbling from live steam motor is visible on hull & decks and most likely the reason why the boat was overpainted many many years ago. The lettering “Augusta Victoria” appears to be original to the boat. Lacking two masts as well as two smoke stacks, the davits and lifeboats are also replaced. A multitude of clips that would have held sailors as well as passengers are present about the decks. Individually soldered railings as well as ladders/stairs are present (lacking one ladder on right side of boat). Original steam mechanism appears complete and intact. SIZE: 29″ long. CONDITION: Overall physical condition is very fine with attention only needed to missing parts, repainting & minor straightening to railings. 1-7989 (4,000-8,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2007 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
