SCARCE STEVENS TIP-UP TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. SN. 8190. Scarce tip-up rifle with 30″ medium to heavy weight, oct to rnd bbl with windage globe front sight & a slot blank in the rear seat. The top tang is mounted with a mid-range sight having a 3 1/4″ staff. It has nickeled iron receiver and trigger guard & is mounted with beautiful, highly figured, target stock with checkered semi schnable forearm & rnd knob grip with nickel-plated brass Swiss buttplate. There is a plugged hole on the top flat over the chamber, probably from an old scope mount. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains about all of a restored browned finish. Frame retains about 60% orig nickel with the exposed metal light to medium patina. Tang sight is missing its insert. Stock has a couple small chips by the top tang & usual handling & use marks & retains 92-94% strong orig varnish. Forearm has a couple chips in the tip & a couple of hairlines at the rear edge & retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine. Bright shiny bore. 4-56642 JR507 (2,750-3,750)
