SCOTT CLIFTON CARBEE (American, 1860-1946) THE RED SILK ROBE. Oil on canvas portrait of a young woman wearing an Oriental red robe over a white shirt. She gazes at the viewer and has black hair and wears hoop earrings. Set against a green mottled background. Signed bottom left “Carbee”. Housed in a carved wood frame with gilt and black decoration, probably original, behind glass. Carbee is the founder and director of the Fine Arts Department of the summer school of the University of Vermont in Burlington. SIZE: 20-1/2″ x 16″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-95579 (2,500-4,500)
