REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK NO. 1 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 40-50. SN 9078. Fine sporting rifle with 28-3/8” medium weight oct bbl, homemade German silver front sight blade with Remington’s tiny, semi-buckhorn, rear sight. It is mounted with nicely figured, uncheckered walnut with metal, semi-schnable forend tip & straight stock with semi-crescent buttplate. Receiver, trigger guard & forend tip are silver plated. Provenance: San Diego Police Historical Association. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 88-90% dull blue. Receiver retains most of its after-market silver plating, as does trigger guard & forend cap. Stock has a crack in wrist; otherwise wood is sound & retains most of a refinish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with scattered fine pitting. 4-60166 JR365 (1,500-2,500)
