AMERICAN PINE PAINTED SEA CHEST. First half of 19th century. The chest in green paint, the rectangular hinged lid with applied molded ends above the dove-tailed conforming case fitted with a till and opposing compartment for drawer, the case ends with beckets, on a molded plinth base. SIZE: Ht 16 1/2″ L 44″ W 16 1/2″ PROVENANCE: Estate of Dr. Lee W. Richards Jr. of Augusta, Maine. Obstetrician & Augusta’s first specialist. CONDITION: Shrinkage crack on lid seam. Original dark green paint under later green. Painted surfaces with wear and water stains. Structurally good. 9-97666 (300-500)
