TWO SHERATON MAPLE STANDS, PROBABLY NEW YORK. Circa 1840. The first example a transitional tiger and bird’s-eye maple washstand with a shaped 3/4 splashguard joined to a rectangular figured top above a convex frieze drawer, raised on ring-turned and blocked cylindrical legs joined by a medial shelf, terminating in ball feet. The second example a figured maple one-drawer stand having a figured top projecting above the conforming case fitted with a single drawer, the whole raised on tapering cylindrical legs. SIZE: 1) Overall 34-1/2″ h x 22″ w x 15″ d 2) 28-1/4″ h x 17″ w x 17-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: Collection of Elwyn Dearborn, Medford, NJ & Portland, ME. CONDITION: 1) Structurally very good all with cleaned, re-polished surfaces. 2) Restored and refinished with slightly bowed top and light color. 9-95921, 9-95922 (300-500)
