EARLY CLOCKWORK WALKING ZOUAVE. A fine early clockwork toy perhaps 1880s consisting of a clockwork mechanism contained within the body of this figure. When wound, his feet raise and lower alternately projecting him in a forward type motion. Head is of pressed linen and clothing is cotton and all original. SIZE: 10-1/2”. CONDITION: Overall very good to excellent. Left hand has been replaced, some deterioration to back of left sleeve. Mechanism in working order but somewhat sluggish. JL 1-6931 (2,000-3,000)
