ALBERT DELMONT SMITH (American, 1886-1962) COLUMBUS MONUMENT, NEW YORK CITY. Oil on canvas scene shows an early view of what is now Columbus Circle in New York City. The monument is at the intersection of Broadway, Central Park West, Central Park South (59th Street), and Eighth Avenue, on the southwest corner of Central Park in Manhattan. Scene shows the tall monument with pedestrians, carts and automobiles in a wide multi-lane street. Large buildings surround the plaza type scene. Signed lower right “Albert D. Smith”. Housed in a gold wide period frame which may be original to the painting. SIZE: 30” x 40”. CONDITION: Good with inpainting. 9-71703 (5,000-7,000)
