KNIFE CASE, SIOUX, LATE 19TH CENTURY. Fully beaded front with metal cones on alternate fringes between the two beaded sections, and at tip. Of classic style from more northerly Lakota (Western Sioux) groups such as those of Standing Rock and Fort Peck Reservations—a medium color background being typical, in this case “pony trader blue.” Some rows of the beadwork are less rigid, long “lane stitches”. Size: 12-1/2” long. CONDITION: Beads all intact, five metal cones missing, & usual surface soiling. 4-56864 BL2 (600-800)
