ANTIQUE PAINTED TRAY TOP TEA TABLE TOP. The octagon shaped three-board top with black painted molded edge has a period painted scene showing the meeting of a military conqueror addressing a man holding a book and waving. Several other soldiers are seen with a porter holding the reins of a horse. Two children hold the robe which extends beyond the military officer. This is all seen in a tropical landscape. Probably English, early 19th Century. The piece comes with a Queen Anne base which has been cut down and is “as is”. SIZE: 33″ h x 32″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Joan B. Hanson, Fair Haven, N.J. CONDITION: Split and some damage to paint surface top, generally good. 9-95859 (400-600)
