RARE WALLACE NUTTING BRANDED CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY ROCOCO OPEN ARMCHAIR. Early 20th century. This very fine example in the French taste, branded “Wallace Nutting” on the inner rear seat rail. The back with scrolled foliate crest centering the carved cartouche above the square padded back joined to shaped scrolling arms, the grips foliate carved and with volutes joined to incurved arm supports carved with belle-flowers, centering a trapezoidal slip seat with serpentine front, raised on four cabriole legs, the frontal legs with foliate carved knees terminating in snail feet with volutes. SIZE: 38-1/2″ h x 26″ w; Seat: 17″ h. CONDITION: Structurally very good with all original surfaces and very good patina. 9-22356 (1,000-2,000)
