REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK NO. 1 SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. 38 CF. SN 11327. Fine sporting rifle with 26-1/8” oct bbl, German silver blade, Rocky Mountain front sight & Remington’s semi-buckhorn, rear sight. Mounted with uncheckered, slab sawed, American walnut with metal tipped, semi-schnable forearm & straight stock with semi-crescent buttplate. Provenance: San Diego Police Historical Association. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains about 80% strong, orig blue, thin & turning to patina over chamber area. Receiver retains strong case colors in sheltered areas, fading elsewhere but still strong & bright. Trigger guard & bottom tang are mostly silver/gray patina with strong colors in sheltered areas. Breechblock & hammer retain most of their glossy bright blue. Wood is sound with forearm retaining a hand-worn patina & buttstock most of a lightly restored finish with some heavy scratches on wrist. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with some slight orange peel roughness just in front of chamber. 4-60151 JR375 (2,500-4,000)
