MAINE EIDER CARVED AND PAINTED DECOY. Late 19th century. The nicely painted and carved example in black & white, rendered with a pale green beak and carved from the solid. Affixed to the bottom of the decoy is an old label, inscribed as follows, “Eider drake (C. 1889)/Monhegan Island…/…deep water…” SIZE: 18-3/4″l. CONDITION: Structurally good with 1″ replacement band at base of neck. With several coats of older paint. 9-23384 (600-800)
