INDIAN MODE ELK ANTLER QUIRT, LATE 19TH CENTURY. Owner states that this quirt is of Apache and attributed, by Moon and his family, to Geronimo. Made from brow tine of elk antler, harness leather lash, and leather wrist strap backed with red felt—edges pinked. At some point GERONIMO and a dbl chevron pattern have been applied in punctuate form. Size: Overall length is 34”, antler handle length is 12”. CONDITION: Surface of antler bears orig linear crackling; general surface soiling of antler and wrist strap; lash desiccated. 4-55206 (4,000-6,000)
