EARLY 20TH CENTURY SIOUX QUILLED BUFFALO HORN. Polished buffalo bull horn decorated with a collar of rawhide slats wrapped with dyed porcupine quills. Beadwork and metal cones with red dyed horse hair and leather thong for suspension. Cross designs in the quillwork are generally considered to represent the Morning Star. Sioux in particular made elaborately decorated horns of this type for sale to the outside. Size: Length along outside curve is 13”. CONDITION: Slight damage to quills. 4-55252 BL33 (400-500)
