CONVERTED KENDALL UNDERHAMMER RIFLE.

CONVERTED KENDALL UNDERHAMMER RIFLE. Cal. 44. 26” octagonal bbl, marked “N. KENDALL / WINDSOR VT / PATENT” on top of the bbl and “SMITH’S / IMPROVED / PATENT / STUD / LOCK” on the bbl tang. The rear of the bbl has been modified to take a Snider type breechblock. This conversion is unmarked. The hammer remains the same but there is an arm installed in the bottom of the bbl which cams the firing pin in the breechblock forward. This is the only known breech loading conversion that I am aware of. CONDITION: Gray patina with some file and vise marks. Rear sight has been moved forward. Ramrod is missing. Stock has been repaired and refinished. 4-52515 FS36 (1,200-1,800)
