NEW ENGLAND SHERATON INLAID AND CARVED MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS. Second quarter 19th century. The rectangular top with turret corners, the edges crossbanded and with string inlay, above the conforming case fitted with four graduated long drawers with figured birch panels, crossbanded and with cockbeaded edges above a shaped molded apron with crossbanding and string inlays flanked by engaged 3/4 reeded columns continuing to tapered cylindrical feet with ball cuffs. SIZE: 40″ h x 42-1/2″ w overall x 21-1/2″ d overall. CONDITION: With some losses to veneers and to cockbeaded edges of drawers. Replaced, but 19th Century, brasses. Feet, glue blocks and back boards original. Structurally very good. 9-22221 (800-1,200)
