SHERATON CARVED MAHOGANY FOUR POST BED. Second quarter 19th century, probably Massachusetts. Each tapering reeded cylindrical post surmounted by later urn form finials, the columns with acanthus carved bases, the head posts joined by a rolled pine board with serpentine edges, the foot posts joined by a smaller panel with serpentine edges. Raised on spool turned legs and accompanied by original elongated side rails. SIZE: Overall: 85″ h x 56-1/2″ w x 89″ l. Interior: 53″ w x 80-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Professionally altered to full size from original 3/4 size. The later finials removable to accommodate a canopy top. Overall very good. 9-22019 (1,000-1,400)
