FABULOUS FOLK ART ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISING THE “ADJUSTABLE STOVE HOOD”. This might have been a store window display but was hand done in the late 19th Century and had a fabulous folksy image. It depicts a lady at a stove cooking various items on the stovetop with the “Adjustable Stove Hood” centered directly above the food where all of the smoke is being collected and directed up through and into the chimney. Also is a sieve attachment for drying fruit. The sieve would be first mounted for fruit to be dried and connected in place at the base of the hood so all the warmth from the stove that was captured by the hood would also be used to dry the fruit. The stove pipe above the hood inscribed “Patent August 3rd, 86”. A terrific handmade advertisement probably one of a kind for a special innovation. SIZE: The painting is on linen like material and measures 73” w x 66” h. CONDITION: Original hand painting shows various creases but does not appear to have any significant damage to the front. Retains original top and bottom wood hangers. A really neat folk art advertisement. 1-13122 (400-800)
