PRESENTATION RIO GRANDE CAMP KNIFE TO SUPT. A. NORTON. 7” blade, 1-5/8” wide is etched on one side “RIO GRAND CAMP KNIFE” above a vine and leaves. The other side is etched “A. NORTON / NEW MEXICO SUPT. / OF INDIAN AFFAIRS”. Guard is two heavy pcs of brass riveted to the blade. Scales are horn also riveted to the blade tang. This knife is pictured on a page 351 of Driebe’s book on Carl Moon’s possessions. CONDITION: Very even gray patina overall with light scattered pitting. Cross guard has a dark patina with bright rivets. Rivets on the scales are also bright, but there is some deterioration in the interior core of the horn. 4-55257 (1,500-2,500)
