GEORGIAN STYLE MAHOGANY & OAK TALL CASE CLOCK. First quarter 19th century Liverpool, UK. Bonnet with swan’s neck pediment terminating in cast brass rosettes impressed with serpents, alternating with acorn and fern finials. Above an inlaid frieze, above a glass paneled door flanked by free standing colonnettes the painted, enamel dial with Roman numeral chapter ring centering a sweep seconds subsidiary dial above time and strike apertures centering a calendar aperture above the painted name “WEST & Co./DALE ST./LIVERPOOL” all within painted spandrels of cottages and church. The case with mahogany frieze inlaid with a conch shell, the throat fitted with a shaped door cross banded and thumb molded joined to the cold molded box base with canted corners on a molded plinth raised on semi-ogee bracket feet. Clock is offered with pendulum and with two weights. SIZE: Overall 89-1/2″ h. Throat is 17-1/2″ w. 9-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Movement appears to be intact, but needs cleaning. Case with early, if not original surfaces. In need of cleaning. Feet have probably been reduced in height. Otherwise good. 9-23431 (500-800)
