BLANKET STRIP, SIOUX, 19TH CENTURY. Classic Sioux example, beaded on native tanned cowhide, to adorn a man’s or woman’s wearing blanket. “Cross” motif in each rosette probably represents the Morning Star. Thong pendent with brass beads and a sgl, one inch hair pipe suspended from the middle of one rosette-like pendants, assumed to have been originally suspended from the others. CONDITION: General surface soiling, one ½ inch square of beadwork missing, and other minor bead loss. SIZE: 55” length x 3-1/2” wide. 4-56903 BL65 (3,000-4,000)
