SATIN GLOSS SOAP COUNTERTOP CHALKWARE STORE DISPLAY. Rare plaster store display consisting of a young black lad sitting in a washtub with a bar of soap and towel in hand. The tub is perched on a pedestal base encircled with figural bars of soap which read “Satin Gloss Soap” and “David S. Brown & Company New York” in alternating sequence. Only two of these displays are known to the cataloger. Dated 1808. SIZE: 10-1/2″ w x 10-1/2″ d x 17″ t.
