UNSIGNED (19th Century) PRAYING TO THE HEADWATERS. Interesting oil on canvas landscape scene shows a man wearing a white garment at waist having hands clasped in front of him looking out over a waterfall through gorge having high mountain backdrop with trees, clouds and blue sky. Housed in what may be its original gilt gesso decorated frame (with losses). SIZE: 25″ x 30″. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Joan B. Hanson, Fair Haven, N.J. CONDITION: Professionally restored, relined, stretched on new stretcher with turnbuckle mechanism. Inpainting, very good. 9-95906 (500-1,000)
