HEAVY HILLIARD BENCH RIFLE. CAL. 38. 24-1/4” octagonal bbl, 1-5/8” across the flats. Marked “D.H. HILLIARD / CAST-STEEL / NO 1477” on the left quarter flat of the bbl. The address marking has been overstruck and defaced. The center sight elevator is missing and the rear one is a replacement. The bottom of the bbl is marked “6 CSS 2 2-1/4”. CONDITION: Smooth brown patina on the bbl. Hammer nose has been replaced, causing some scale pitting on the shaft of the hammer. Stock has been lightly cleaned with fill near the bbl.
