SHARPS MEACHAM CONVERSION HUNTING RIFLE. Cal. 45-120. SN C44992. Fine heavy rifle with 30-1/4″ oct bbl, 1-1/8″ at the muzzle with German silver Rocky Mountain front sight, 800 yard Lawrence Patent ladder rear sight with Sharps Bridgeport & “OLD RELIABLE” markings on the top flat. It has dbl set triggers & its orig military carbine stock with steel buttplate. It has a Meacham schnable tip forearm with two screws. Weight: . CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains a dark mottled brown patina with a few small spots of crusty rust and a light ding or two. Receiver & lockplate retain a mottled silver/brown patina with traces of case colors under the hammer & in the very sheltered areas. Wood is sound with the stock retaining most of an old restored finish & the forearm a fine orig hand worn patina. Mechanics are fine. Trigger adjusting screw is missing. Strong bright bore with light to moderate pitting. This rifle would have seen frontier use in the buffalo and market trade as it was discovered and consigned from Wyoming. 4-57437 JR710 (5,000-7,000)
